Anne-Marie Trevelyan is our new Transport Secretary

Anne-Marie Trevelyan has been appointed as the new Secretary of State for Transport (Transport Secretary). 

Formerly Secretary of State for International Trade and President of the Board of Trade, The Rt Hon Anne-Marie Trevelyan MP now assumes the following responsibilities:

  • Overall responsibility for the policies of the Department for Transport.
  • Cabinet responsibility for the Northern Powerhouse.
  • Oversight of departmental COVID-19 responsibilities.

Other government positions formerly held by Trevelyan include Parliamentary under-secretary for the Ministry of Defence from July 2019 to December 2019, Minister of state for the armed forces from December 2019 to February 2020, Secretary of state for international development from February 2020 to September 2020, Minister of state for business, energy, and industrial strategy (minister for energy, clean growth and climate change) from January 2021 to September 2021.

In a Tweet following her appointment Anne-Marie Trevelyan said, “Transport is crucial to our lives - bringing people together, creating jobs & connecting the UK with the world.

“Looking forward to getting to work on the many challenges & opportunities transport brings.”
