Electrification and recession will be the key fleet issues of 2023, says AFP

The Association of Fleet Professionals (AFP) predicts that ‘electrification’ and ‘the impact of the recession’ will be the key fleet issues of 2023, with businesses looking to their fleet managers to deliver more value than ever, particularly in terms of cost control and carbon savings.

AFP Chair Paul Hollick raised the point that high petrol and diesel prices and the impending fuel duty increase will make electrification more financially attractive than ever. However, he also added that vehicle supply is likely to remain poor in 2023, affecting the rate of EV adoption.

Paul Hollick said, “This creates a knock-on effect with many company vehicles now being operated well beyond their originally planned termination point, something that will also place considerable demands on fleet managers when it comes to keeping these cars and vans in compliant, roadworthy condition.”

The AFP will issue its Tax and Legislation Manifesto in early 2023, setting out thoughts on all of these key areas.
