Latest statistics for government EV charge point grant schemes revealed

The Department for Transport has invested £4.6 million into helping employers install workplace charge points for electric vehicles (EVs) in the past year through its Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS).
New WCS information recently published on the Government website include:
- Since the scheme opened in late 2016, 42,104 workplace charge points have been installed with the help of 16,235 vouchers, collectively worth £15.8 million.
- In 2022, there was a 3 per cent year on year increase in workplace charge point installations through the scheme, worth £4.64 million.
- Businesses in the South-East of England received the most support through the scheme, with 6,330 new charge points installed.
- Businesses in Wales and Northern Ireland received the least support, with 1,593 and 809 new charge points respectively. Together, these regions represent 5.7 per cent of all charge points installed under the WCS in the UK.
- London businesses received the lowest number of new workplace charge points through the WCS to each 100,000 residents of all regions in the UK (29 installations per 100,000 people).
The WCS is administered by the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV), the On-Street Residential Chargepoint Scheme (ORCS) and the Electric Vehicle Chargepoint Grant (EVCG).
